A NOTE FROM PASTOR MARK:

We recognize that family worship has its unique challenges depending on your family’s size and stage of life. Therefore, we have prepared a complete worship service (below) for our entire church family because we are convinced that Sunday is so much more than a sermon. And this is one way for us to be worshiping the same way even though we are apart.

We suggest that you test the worship and sermon links before you gather your family. After you have done this, we encourage the leader of the house to read the prayers and appoint other readers as necessary to encourage greatest participation.

After the sermon is over, we encourage you to discuss the sermon and ways to live out its application.

Embracing My Identity in Christ, Part 2
TEXT: colossians 3:5-17

ONLINE WORSHIP SERVICE (7.19.2020)

CALL TO WORSHIP:

As we come to worship today, we remind ourselves of the joy we find as we praise our great God!!

Psalms 34:1–3
1 I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!

OPENING WORSHIP:

“10,0000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)”

“In Christ Alone”

affirmation:

Psalms 62:5    For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.

a time of silence:

  • In the rush of our activities and commitments, and in the constant noise of media, cell phones, and internet, we often fail to stop and be silent before the Lord. Yet being silent or still before the Lord is part of waiting on him, trusting that he will help us, trusting that he has heard our petition and will respond. It shows that we are depending on him to move, to take action.
  • I’m not sure what you might be waiting on God for right now in your life. It could be any number of things that are difficult or are weighing you down.
  • What I’d like us to do is to take a moment now and be silent before the Lord. Let’s express our trust and dependence on him. As the verse said: “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.”

Worship:

This next song is all about putting our trust in the Lord. This is a new song for us, so please join in as you feel comfortable…

“Dwell”

“Great Are You Lord”

prayer:

Matthew 6:9 “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” Oh Lord we are asking that your name would be held high in our lives, in our church, and in our community. We pray that you would reverenced, obeyed, and sought out as a precious treasure. We pray that no other name would receive the attention or regard or trust that you deserve.

10 “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Oh Lord, you have saved us into the kingdom of your beloved Son. Would you extend your reign in our lives, and make us kingdom ambassadors who announce the truth to those around us. We ask for the unfolding of your plan on the earth. Bring many more souls into your kingdom, that your universal reign might become more and more evident on the earth!

11 “Give us this day our daily bread.” Oh Lord, you have promised to meet our needs. Help us to trust you with them all. Provide for us in such a way that we do not forget you and begin to think that we can do it on our own. Let us be content with what you entrust us with, giving thanks for it and seeking to share with those who are in need.

12“and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Oh Lord, reveal any unforgiveness in our hearts. Reveal any bitterness that is attempting to take root. Let us walk with each other in humility, patiently bearing each other’s faults and failures. And may we remember how much we’ve been forgiven, so that we can be quick to extend forgiveness.

13 “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Oh Lord, we walk in a world that is full of pleasures that promise happiness but don’t deliver. Would you help us see through these lies? And make us full of the pleasure of doing your will so that temptation will appear less and less attractive.

Finally, Lord, turn our gaze once more toward your Word. Let us see Jesus as we hear again the glorious truths you have for us. Make our hearts soft and receptive. Come and speak over us we pray.

Amen!
