Leaving Behind a Church but Looking Forward to Its Future
Text: Acts 20:17-32
In Acts 20, the Apostle Paul gives a stirring message to the Ephesian church leaders about their church even though he will not longer be there for them. Many of the same words apply to our church today as it transitions from the Interim Pastor stage to the new pastoral leadership of Mark Kernan. In verses 17-32, we find three lessons on leaving behind a church with a bright future.
Home is Where the Heart Is

What goes on in your mind when you think about or prepare for meeting with the Lord and his people to experience together worship and fellowship? Your answer to that question reflects on where your heart really is. Psalm 84 describes a heart set on worshipping God with his followers.

Psalm 1 is a picture of 2 people – 2 ways to live – 2 choices – and 2 ultimate outcomes. It is also a summary of the book of Psalms and even of the entire Bible. But most importantly, it is a good look in the mirror at yourself. As you read and study this short Psalm, see if you can see yourself in it.
“Who Are We in God’s Eyes?”
Text: Psalm 8
Ever wonder what God thinks of you? David in the Old Testament book of Psalms, chapter 8, gives us the answer and a reason to live. And he begins this ancient song by inviting us to say with him to the Lord, “How majestic is your name in all the earth!” With the starting place of praise, we are lifted up by the Lord in honor so that we can lift him up in praise.
Living Now in God’s Presence
Text: Psalm 15:1-5
Psalm 15 is a short Psalm written by David, but its words contain a manual for men who want to live holy lives in the presence of God. This is a Psalm about who God wants to spend time with in worship and fellowship. It is especially appropriate for men on this Father’s Day who want their lives to shape their families, their church, and their community.
A Cry for Revival

We have a responsibility and privilege to encourage one another in serving the Lord and his church, especially those on the front lines of ministry. Ephesians 6:18-24 closes this letter to the church by showing us three ways to do that.
The Greatest Gift a Mother Can Give
Text: 2 Timothy 1:5
God honors true Christian mothers and grandmothers in the Bible. One of the ways he does this is by publicly recognizing their greatest contribution, a special gift to their children and grandchildren. This gift can be considered the greatest gift anyone can give to her family. It is the gift of living and sharing their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, an eternal legacy of grace.
When the Devil Attacks
Text: Ephesians 6:17-20
In Ephesians 6:10-20, we are told that following Jesus can be a struggle. In fact, we are at war with the devil and can expect many struggles of many kinds throughout our lives. However, God has not left us alone to fight against our spiritual enemy with our own weapons. In Ephesians 6:17, we read about the final three weapons that God has given us to defeat our enemy. Always have them handy.
Dress for Success (in Battle)

In Ephesians 6, we see that the Christian life is like living in a war zone where our enemy is Satan but our victory is in Christ. In the second of a three-part series, we learn that winning against our enemy depends on what we wear and carry as weapons into battle. And the image given is a fully dressed and armed Roman soldier of the First Century.
