Ephesians (2016-2017)

Text: Ephesians 6:18-24 We have a responsibility and privilege to encourage one another in serving the Lord and his church, especially those on the front lines of ministry. Ephesians 6:18-24 closes this letter to the church by showing us three ways to do that.

Text: Ephesians 6:17-20 In Ephesians 6:10-20, we are told that following Jesus can be a struggle. In fact, we are at war with the devil and can expect many struggles of many kinds throughout our lives. However, God has not left us alone to fight against our spiritual enemy with our own weapons. In Ephesians 6:17, we read about the final three weapons that God has given us to defeat our enemy. Always have them handy.

Text: Ephesians 6:13-16 In Ephesians 6, we see that the Christian life is like living in a war zone where our enemy is Satan but our victory is in Christ. In the second of a three-part series, we learn that winning against our enemy depends on what we wear and carry as weapons into battle. And the image given is a fully dressed and armed Roman soldier of the First Century.

Text: Ephesians 6:10-13 Until Jesus comes again, Christians and the church will be at war. But, instead of fighting against an enemy with guns, bombs, IEDs, or other weapons, we are fighting an unseen but powerful spiritual enemy led by Satan and his army of fallen angels. In Ephesians 6:10-13, the Apostle Paul introduces us to the nature of our struggles and how to win in spiritual warfare.

Text: Ephesians 6:5-9 Because of God’s Word and God’s help, Christians should stand out as the very best bosses, employees or students. They have good reason to offer service with a smile. In Eph. 6:5-9 we move from the fireplace at home to the workplace or classroom where you work or study and discover what makes followers of Christ different.

Text: Ephesians 6:1-4 In Ephesians 6:1-4, the Apostle Paul outlines what it takes to build a godly home where parents and children follow Jesus. The text reveals that there are four essential characteristics of a Christ-centered home that are building blocks.

Text: Ephesians 5:21-33 The true measure of church and home can be seen best behind closed doors. We see this in the letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus and to us. Open the door of church and home in Ephesians 5:21-33 and you will see God’s design that we are to follow and glorify God.

Text: Ephesians 5:7-14 In the Bible, light is a symbol of God and the life he gives. Darkness is a symbol of sin and death. We all have daily choices to make between light and darkness and the message from God in his Holy Word is choose light. We see that in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians in Chapter 5: 7-14. What will you choose?
