The Privilege of Our Hope

“The Privilege of Our Hope”
TEXT: 1 PEter 1:10–12

ONLINE WORSHIP SERVICE (2.28.2021)

CALL TO WORSHIP:

Let us draw near to worship with the words of Psalm 111….

1  Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. 2 Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them.

OPENING WORSHIP:

“Praise To The Lord The Almighty”

worship:

“This I Believe”

affirmation:

Our affirmation this week comes from 1 Corinthians 15 where Paul gives his readers a summary of what the gospel is.

1Corinthians 15:1-8
1  Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

WORSHIP:

“Christ Our Hope In Life And Death”

“O Praise the Name”

Prayer:

Father, we started off this service by declaring: “Great are your works, studied by all who delight in them” (Psalms 111:2).

What greater work have you done than accomplishing our salvation? You’ve made a way to settle accounts with us. Planned from eternity past, you slowly unveiled your purposes. Then “when the fullness of time had come, you sent forth your Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” (Galatians 4:4–5). You redeemed us ….not by giving us what we deserve but by giving what we deserve to Jesus. Then you united us by faith to the resurrected Jesus, so that everything he earned could now be ours. We are now your children, standing in the perfect obedience of Christ. This is grace, this is unmerited favor!

Great are your works, oh God!

And now as we open your word, would you show us more of the wonder of what you accomplished and what you still have planned for us? May we be so impressed, that our attachment to the world and that it offers would be cut off. Speak to us Lord! Remove our blindness! Show us Christ!

Amen!
