Sermon Text: Matthew 5:31-37

Main Point: To be like Jesus is to be trustworthy to the core

1. Keep Your Word to Your Wife
   1. Marriage is a promise to your spouse, God and your families
   2. Divorce: breaking the promise of lifelong loyalty
   3. God’s Design: supernatural, permanent & sacred bond (Matthew 9:16)
   4. Divorce has a legitimate use but it is a tragic feature of a fallen and broken world (Matthew 5:32, 1 Cor. 7:15, 1 Cor. 7:11)
2. Keep Your Word to the World
   1. Oath: Claiming something is true or promising to do something and adding some formal or spiritual element to add credibility.
   2. Proceed with caution when it comes to making any oath
   3. Our goal is a legacy of radical truthfulness
