As we gather for worship this morning, I’d like to call you to worship with the words of Psalms 148…
1 Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! 12 Young men and women together, old men and children! 13 Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven.

AFFIRMATION:
Colossians 2:6-15
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. 11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

PRAYER:
Oh what sweet security we have in you, Lord, Christ. When we run to you, leaving all behind, we find out that we have lost nothing, and gained everything. When we turn from our rebellion and confess our sins to you we experience the sweetest rest imaginable, the rest that comes from being right with you. When we place all hopes of rescue from our sin in your cross work and resurrection, we can go to sleep at night confident that you’ve done all the work necessary for us to be saved from the wrath we deserve.
Oh Christ, deliver us from lesser pursuits, petty distractions, and competing attractions. Set our hearts free from wondering after all that will not satisfy. Fill us with the joy of knowing you personally and intimately.
In You all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in You, we have been brought to fullness.
Would you now, through your Word, make the beauty of Christ sweet to us again? Would you draw near and remove our blindness, remove our deafness, and replace our taste buds with those that will appreciate and delight in all that you are and all that you’ve done for us!
