“Dress for Success (in Battle)”
Ephesians 6:13-16
In Ephesians 6, we see that the Christian life is like living in a war zone where our enemy is Satan but our victory is in Christ. In the second of a three-part series, we learn that winning against our enemy depends on what we wear and carry as weapons into battle. And the image given is a fully dressed and armed Roman soldier of the First Century.
(Eph. 6:13-14a) Always wear truth, for it is like a soldier’s belt.
(Eph. 6:14b) Always wear righteousness, for it is like a soldier’s breastplate.
(Eph. 6:15) Always wear the gospel, for it is like the soldier’s shoes.
(Eph. 6:16) Always wear faith, for it is like a soldier’s shield.
The Big Idea: A well-dressed soldier of Jesus Christ always is ready for battle because he or she is dressed and armored to fight and win.
