Here on the Kitsap Peninsula life and commerce does not happen without running into bridges on a normal basis. Do you have a distinct or fond memory of the first time that you crossed the Narrows Bridge? I remember the first time I wondered at the construction of the Hood Canal Bridge having not studied it before I crossed it. Bridges are both necessary and scenic parts of our lives here in our Western Washington community.
The church should be in the bridge building business if it is not already, unfortunately the perception of many people from outside the church is that we are in the fortress building business. We believe that if the gospel is important, it is important for everyone. We desire to be ambassadors (bridge builders) in our community through building relationships and helping to meet needs. More importantly, however, because we hope everyone around us will understand the need to know Christ.
